PAFACOM, Inc. provides day programming services at our Training Center located in Vineland, NJ. Our Training Center is funded by The Division of Developmental Disabilities and is operated in accordance with their Day Program/Supported Employment Manual. Adults who attend our Training Center may choose to participate in a variety of programs and services, to include: Community Programming: The Community groups participate in community-based, educational activities as well as facility programming
such as arts & crafts, learning exercises, adult daily living skills, goal
setting and planning and more. The Seniors Program: The Seniors program was developed in response
to many of our existing program participants who wanted to continue in a day program, at a slightly relaxed pace. This group is quite active in the
community via their singing group, called “The Joy Belles.” They also
partake in adult daily living skills, individualized arts and crafts, and do
fun projects aimed at improving socialization. Life Skills: The Life Skills groups are designed for persons who need
a higher level of specialized help and care in most aspects of daily living.
These groups review everyday living activities, like how to attain good
hygiene skills, effective skills for community interaction, healthy eating
and communication. The Life Skills groups enjoy social activities
provided by Training Center staff and like to display some of their
arts & crafts. back to top Production/Contract Work: Production work provides
relevant pre-employment training via bulk/contract projects for which
individuals who desire to work are paid. This program allows for
growth and experience for persons interested in eventually becoming a
candidate for our Supported Employment Program. The Budding Chef’s Café: The Café is a cafeteria lunch program that
provides lunch to program attendants as well as to staff. Persons interested in
working as part of the Budding Chef’s get excellent training and
experience in a food service setting. They learn safe handling of food, portion control, use of the register, sanitary provisions and scheduling.
When appropriate, persons who acquire the necessary skills for potential
competitive employment may be referred to our Supported Employment
Program.
Retail Training via Gifts from the Heart: Individuals who participate
in work at our retail store, Gifts from the Heart, do so with the goal
of obtaining retail sales training and experience. Our store features
gifts, candles, furniture and seasonal merchandise that is priced, stocked
and enhanced by the program attendants who work there. Other
skills offered at the store include inventory, use of the register and
store maintenance. The Victorian Rose: The Victorian Rose is not a program, per se, but
a beauty parlor within the Training Center that may be used by anyone
who attends the Training Center whenever staffing is available. back to top |
